The Openness in Natural Resource Working Group co-chairs, World Resources Institute and the Natural Resource Governance Institute, will host a roundtable to share views and perspectives on the implementation of OGP commitments in the Natural Resource sector. The goal of this session is to:

  • Create a list of key lessons learnt and recommendations to improve the process of implementation of natural resource commitments in Latin America looking at the case of Peru, Mexico and Colombia.

The ONRWG will launch its latest report at the event, “Closing the Gap Strengthening the Development and Implementation of Natural Resource Commitments in the Open Government Partnership”. This report reveals that just under 50% of natural resource commitments have actually been implemented. The Report also highlights commitments which are truly transformative and completed.

During this session, government champions and civil society activists from Colombia, Mexico, and Peru will present findings and recommendations on improving commitments and their implementation and impact. An interactive group discussion will follow focused on next steps and new ideas needed to improve implementation based on  the recommendations from the report.
